About

History
The 3DF Open Source Initiative started within 3DF Limited, a Hong Kong-based IT Ops, DevOps, and 3D Printing Consultancy. The founder created practical IT tools and shared the source code with the community. Initially featuring simple scripts on Github and GitLab, the project evolved to include graphically rich software utilities addressing IT professionals’ everyday needs. The founder decided to expand this into a platform funded by 3DF Limited and donors, dedicated to contributing to open source.
What is OSI?
OSI serves as a platform for introducing and sharing open source technologies, including server-side scripts, team collaboration tools, and utility software such as “PDF compressors built for Linux desktop users.” Contributors include 3DF founders, staff, and partners working on various projects. The platform aims to sustain technical resource sharing that lowers barriers to adopting cutting-edge technology globally.
Mission & Theme
OSI’s mission is making technology more accessible and usable for IT professionals and technology enthusiasts. Projects must:
- Solve practical problems
- Provide educational developer experiences
- Remain open and free for redistribution
